When in Reykjavik, it’s worth a scenic drive south to the fishing village of Stokkseyri. Here you’ll find Við Fjöruborðið, a seafood restaurant set back from the beach. Its ‘magical lobster soup’ is famous throughout Iceland for good reason. The tales of ‘inquisitive haddock’ and ‘party-happy ghosts’ written inside the menus will entertain you as you eat and then, after allowing the soup to ‘tickle your stomach and soul’, you can relax with a glass of Viking beer and watch the epic three hour sunset over the sea. It’s a perfect introduction to the spirit of Iceland and is always the first place I head to directly from the airport.

Sounds idyllic! I like the brevity yet fullness of this piece, along with the lovely photograph. (Is Magical Lobster Soup available in Yorkshire anywhere?!)
